Volunteers are an integral part of our organization. Are you looking to make a difference in your community, meet new people, expand your library knowledge and skills? We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available at the Jack Russell Memorial Library. Those interested in volunteering should visit the library and pick up an application at the Circulation Desk or complete and submit the online application below.
Applicants must complete a volunteer application, background check authorization, and a liability waiver. JRML will contact approved applicants when an appropriate opportunity becomes available. Adult Volunteers:
Adult Volunteer tasks may include, shelving, shelf reading, cart preparation, pulling holds, shelf cleaning, and dusting surfaces throughout the library.
A brief informal interview will be conducted before being offered a volunteer position. Orientation, tour, and training will be provided. Join the Jack Russell Memorial Library and help make Hartford's community living room a great place to visit!
Youth Volunteers:
Youth younger than 16 may volunteer in the Youth Department of the library. Interested teens must be in at least 6th grade to volunteer in the Youth Department. Applicants must volunteer while the Youth Services Librarian is working and will be overseen by the Youth Services Library Staff. Volunteer tasks may include but are not limited to shelving, shelf reading, prepping crafts (copying, cutting, gluing, hole punching), and light dusting/cleaning.
The Youth Services Librarian reserves the right to choose which applicants volunteer in the Youth Department, how long/often an applicant works, and how many applicants are accepted to volunteer in the Youth Department.
